May Day: Remain Resilient in the Face of the COVID-19 Pandemic – Isibor tells Workers.
Benin City –
Honourable (Sir) Ifaluyi-Isibor, Statesman and frontline politician in the People’s Democratic Party, PDP has enjoined Nigerian Workers to remain resolute in the face of the ravaging Covid-19 pandemic which continues to challenge their resolve to stand above board in their productivity.
Ifaluyi-Isibor, who aspires for Edo state governorship ticket under his party, the People’s Democratic Party, stated this yesterday in an interview with reporters as Nigeria commemorated Workers Day.
“This year’s Workers Day will go down the annals of history as the first that is commemorated amidst fear and anxiety, without the usual funfare, without the beautiful colours adorned by various unions in demonstration of the spirit of the struggle for liberation for the workforce, while words embellished by high sounding assurances and promises resonate from leaders to assure workers to continue being strong in the face of hardship, however, the struggle to surmount the ravaging Covid-19 is our collective fight, so also is the struggle to surmount hardship. I join all well meaning people to encourage our workers in all sectors of the economy, and pray for them to remain undaunted, even as I charge them to remain united, remain resolute in the march towards realising the true tenets of democracy, one that embodies the spirit and letters of humanitarianism and moves the wheel of productivity through a workforce that is truly motivated. I also assure them that the novel Corona Virus will, like all birds of passage, take its exit.”
He appealed to workers and all people of Edo state and Nigeria as a whole to obey lockdown rules, maintain social distancing, hand washing and wearing of protective masks as a way of warding off the virus.
