CoronaVirus: Edo PDP flays Edo State Government
The Peoples Democratic Party berates Governor Obaseki and his APC led government for its lackluster response and preparation for the Coronavirus pandemic.
Four months after the virus started ravaging the world, Edo State government have not shown any signs of preparedness for the management of this disease. There have been no statements to educate or inform Edo people on it, how to avoid infection or contain it if symptoms are noticed.
While the governors of Lagos, Enugu, Benue, Ogun, Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, Jigawa, Kebbi, Kaduna, Niger States, Kano and Kwara state have all closed down schools and banned large social gatherings in churches, mosques, night clubs, etc there haven’t been any categorical or official statement from Governor Obaseki of Edo state about measures being put in place to control, contain or stem the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in Edo state.
Edo PDP hereby advise the good people of Edo state to:
Wash your hands regularly for 20 seconds, with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub/Sanitizer
Cover your nose and mouth with a disposable tissue or flexed elbow when you cough or sneeze
Avoid close contact (1 meter or 3 feet) with people who are unwell
Stay home and self-isolate from others in the household if you feel unwell
Don’t Touch your eyes, nose, or mouth if your hands are not clean
Also, avoid unnecessary gatherings of more than 50 persons (POLITICAL OR SOCIAL).
The most common symptoms of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) are fever, tiredness, and dry cough.
Unfortunately, Governor Obaseki and his government are only interested in the Edo 2020 elections. This is the Virus that interest them and has also infected them. The symptoms are clear. This virus has ravaged the thinking faculty of APC members that the only thing that matters to them is who gets the (APC) ticket and who sends the name to INEC.
Governor Obaseki and his APC have demonstrated a clear dereliction of duty at this critical time. Its unacceptable and must be condemned by all. Edo people must mete out consequences.
Governor Obaseki and his APC obsession with Edo2020 is costing Edo people good governance and focused leadership. Edo state is now in a state of suspended development.
Edo PDP implores Edo people to be patient and remain resilient. In a few months time, Edo people will have an opportunity to put an end to this APC lacklustre and bereft of ideas administration. You, EDO people deserve better.
