Hon. Chris Osa Nehikhare, Commissioner for Youth and Humanitarian Affairs spoke with the Edo State Youth Parliament as regards government support and commitment to youth development.

Speaking to the Youth Parliament led by its Speaker, Rt Hon. Osawemwenhio Uwagboe during a courtesy visit to his office, The Commissioner reassured them that the government has set in motion processes so that they can effectively deliver on their mandate.

He noted that the Youth Parliament should focus on the reasons of their establishment as a legislative and developmental institution, created to strengthen, reinforce and consolidate efforts in empowering Young People through meaningful Youth representation in driving Edo state’s developmental agenda.

The Commissioner talked about data collection of youths embarked upon by agencies of the state government and urged the youth parliament to get involved as data collection helps to gather information in a measured and systematic manner to ensure accuracy and facilitate data analysis while propelling development, empowerment and proper and accurate planning and budgeting.

While the Youth Parliament presented a “wish list”, Hon Commissioner Nehikhare promised to look at the list and treat accordingly.

Hon. Nehikhare congratulated them for their selection as the pioneer members of the Edo State Youth Parliament and wished them luck.
