A member of the Edo People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Hon. Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Osa Nehikhare has called on Edo people to raise their voices in support of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
Barr. Asue Ighodalo in the coming Edo governorship election.
He made the remarks in a statement issued, signed and made available to the press in Benin City as the Party flagged up its governorship campaign in the Edo Central Senatorial districts.
According to him, “today, we gather not just as individuals but as a powerful collective, united in our commitment to a brighter future for our beloved state of Edo. As we flag off our governorship campaign, let us raise our voices in support of our candidate, Barr. Asue Ighodalo, AI, DE MAN WEY SABI, and the great party that stands for justice, equity, and progress—the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“We are here because we believe in a vision for Edo that prioritizes the needs of our communities, a vision that puts our people first. Our candidate embodies this vision—a leader who listens, who understands the challenges we face, and who is dedicated to transforming those challenges into opportunities for growth and prosperity.
He further added that Edo was a land rich in talents and potential stressing that the government of Godwin Obaseki has added much value to the quality of life of the people.
“Edo is a land of promise, rich in talent and potential. Yet, we know the struggles that many of our families endure. As a political party in government, We Have A Good Story To Tell in nearly all sectors. We may not be where we want to be, but we are certainly not where we used to be. Edo of today is immeasurably stronger than we met. In Education, our state has become the beautiful bride. We launched EdoBest in 2017 to revitalise the state basic education sector. The program was designed to improve the quality of teaching and learning in primary and junior secondary schools in our state. It has been a resounding success! Many states and other nations have come to understudy and copy our EdoBest Model.
“In Health, Our primary Heath Care (PHC) plays a critical role in providing essential health care services to the populace. We created a network of primary health facilities that serve as first point of contact for healthcare services for majority of our people. The facilities include neighbourhood clinics manned by qualified doctors, midwives, nurses and other medical personnel located in all 192 wards across the state. Of course, we have completely rebuilt and equipped the Stella Obasanjo hospital while also upgrading the Genera hospital in Auchi to a teaching hospital.
The statement further added that the Peoples Democratic Party and the government of Godwin Obaseki has greatly improved the infrastructure of the state
“Our Party and government has significantly improved Edo State infrastructure, reversing years of neglect. We have prioritized the development and renovation of state facilities, demonstrating purposeful leadership. Notable projects include the construction of over 900 kilometres of road, John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy, Edo Innovation Hub, Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub, Education Hub, Secretariat Complex, Edo Tech Park, Edo Production Centre, Emotan Gardens, Golf Mems, Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, The Benin City Mall, the Central Bus Park, Edo State College of Nursing Sciences, College Of Agriculture Iguoraikhi, we have laid over 3000 km of fibre optics connecting the 18 local government area across the state as well offering free WiFi services in several areas across our cities … these are a few of the architectural master pieces that characterise this government and Barr. Asue Ighodalo, will do more. Together with the PDP, AI will ensure that our youth are empowered to succeed, and that our farmers and entrepreneurs receive the support they need to thrive.
He therefore urged the people to continue to lend their support to the PDP and its candidate in the coming governorship election
“But we cannot do this alone. Our strength lies in our unity. As supporters of the PDP and Edo Citizens, we must rally together, spread our message, and inspire our friends, families, and neighbours to join us in this movement.
“Always we must be aware, that our opponents have teamed up and are now together to deprive Edo state and its citizens quality leadership. APC with its mute candidate has recruited LP’s garrulous candidate who is certainly not ready for the role he pretends he seeks!
