The Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Ali Ndume has stated that it was easier to see former President Muhammadu Buhari compared to the current President, Bola Tinubu.

While speaking in an interview with Arise TV, Ndume noted that if the current situation under President Bola Tinubu is compared to the Buhari’s regime, one would appreciate Buhari more.

He said that currently, even some ministers struggle to access President Tinubu. He said these ministers can only see the president during council meetings or when they are specifically invited by him.

Ndume however noted that during these meetings, it is still challenging to get an audience with the president because he arrives after all the ministers are seated and he is also the first to leave.

Ndume explained that every government has gatekeepers who control access to the president. He remarked that Buhari was more open to meeting people, whereas some ministers today lack direct access to President Tinubu.

He said, “In every government, it’s like that, you have the gatekeepers. Those who want the president to know everything and to have other opinions will even encourage those that matter in the government to come over.

“But if you compare this now to Buhari’s regime, you’ll give buhari a thumbs up. At least he opens up, people come to see him. There are some Ministers who don’t have access to Mr President.

“The only access they have to Mr President is when they are maybe invited and some may not be invited, or when they go for council meeting, and you know when they go for council, by the time the president goes in, all of them are seated, and the president is the first person to leave.”
