The minister made the disclosure after Monday’s FEC meeting chaired by President Tinubuek.s.

He also disclosed that the President will be meeting with the organised Labour on Thursday before deciding on an amount that would be forwarded to the National Assembly.

He further said the Federal Executive Council deliberated on the national minimum wage and would invite the organised Labour for a meeting this week.

Recall that President Tinubu had previously met with labour leaders last week to discuss the minimum wage issue.

The Tripartite Committee had submitted two separate figures: N62,000 from the government and private sector, and N250,000 from Organized Labour. Following the dispute over a unified figure, the President promised to engage with stakeholders to resolve the discrepancy before sending the executive bill to the National Assembly.

Idris confirmed that the President will transmit the bill after Thursday’s meeting with labour leaders. Additionally, the executive will submit an amendment to the 2024 budget, which will include the new minimum wage and other essential matters.
