Ahead the 33rd anniversary of the creation of Edo state coming up on the 27th of August, Edo state government and critical state actors are set to unveil a developmental road map for the next generation of the state.
The disclosure was made yesterday in a joint press conference in Benin City, the State capital, by some of the state Commissioners.
According to the Edo State Commissioner of Art, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Uyi Oduwa-Malaka that spoke with the press, “the program is planned in such a way that everyone is expected to be part of the event which will climax in a carnival like pattern arranged to have top celebrities Rema and Shallypuppy; etc
“The program is planned in such a way to see everyone participate as the celebration would bring Nigerian celebrities like Rema, Shallypuppy and others to spice up the events and honours given to deserving Edo people.
Dr. Joan Oviawe, Commissioner of Education said the event would feature school children from kindergarten, special needs children to the tertiary institutions “to create different structured formats for them to interface with the Edo state master plan, it is important that our young people understand and imbibe it in our quest to carry the torch light into the next generation.”
Also addressing the press, the State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Osa Nehikhare said, “This government has been very deliberate in everything that it has done, I don’t think there is any government in the past that has done this that will be handed over to the next generation and it is only fair that we hand over the to the next generation of Edo a workable and sustainable development master plan because all great cities, all great towns all over the world have master plan. We didn’t inherit any but it is good we hand over one to the next generation.”
